Hi there, im a 3D visualization student hoping to get into the architectural visualzation industry. My question is on the necessity in having an architecture education or not. Ive spent alot of time learning 3D and am currently learning alot more on my course. However, i dont have architecture or interior design training. I can roughly read floor plans and have spent sometime trying to familiarise myself with them and learn more about them but im not officially trained. Will this be a problem when trying to enter the industry and if so what can i do to better prepare myself for a job in architectural visualization?

I don't know about resources. That is the one part of this I actually learned in school. The most important thing I think is to get a hold of some plans, or some architectural models, and turn them into awesome renderings. Portfolio trumps all.
I think you are doing the right thing if you want to get into arch viz specifically. 3d skills are more important than architectural ones. I will say this, though, understanding and interpreting plans is essential. Plans will come to you in various different forms: sketch, Revit models, 2d cad drawings, etc. Much of your job will be translating this into rendering form.
The other place where it comes into play is when architects want something very conceptual, but don't want to think through the design themselves. This happens to me a lot actually. In this case, you need to have a good eye for aesthetics and some artistic skill. Usually it will be done in conjunction with an architect, who can inform the conceptual design, and guide you whether it is actually feasible or not.
Long story short; architectural skills are helpful, but not the most essential part of the job. I have worked with multiple 3d artists who had no architectural experience. For them, the architectural stuff came with time and was not a huge deal.
